Join the Des Moines Metro arts community for the 4th annual artstop, a two-day celebration of local visual and performing arts. artstop includes the Historic East Village, Historic Valley Junction, Roosevelt Cultural District, Court Avenue, Ingersoll Avenue and Western Gateway. artstop hours are Friday, September 24 from 5 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, September 25 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Forty-one venues—including galleries, artists’ studios, a sculpture park and a museum—are part of this year’s artstop. Special events such as exhibition openings, performances, artist demonstrations and live music will take place at many locations. On Saturday, participants are encouraged to ride the free artstop bus from district to district. artstop is an arts event created for the community by the community with the goal to inform, entertain and engage community members in the arts. This year’s artstop will feature many performances and demonstrations as part of an Iowa Community Cultural Grant received from the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs. This grant has given artstop venues the opportunity to offer a multitude of special events by hiring Iowa musicians, performers and artists.
